Born in Eslöv, Sweden, he began apprenticing at the Alumina Factory in Copenhagen at thirteen and later graduated from the Royal Danish Academy in 1917.

Appointed Artistic Director of Alumina in 1928, Thorsson led the studio for over four decades. After Alumina merged with Royal Copenhagen in 1949, he continued in this role, heading a distinguished team of designers.

Thorsson’s work ranged from naturalistic motifs to abstract and geometric designs. He was Royal Copenhagen’s most prolific designer, responsible for iconic series such as Solberg, Marselis, Tenera, Baca, and Diana. Marked by his cypher, his designs remain highly sought after by collectors today.
